D tuning notes
| String | Note | Frequency |
|---|---|---|
| A | A4 | 440.00 Hz |
| D | D4 | 293.66 Hz |
| F# | F#4 | 369.99 Hz |
| B | B4 | 493.88 Hz |
This is the tuning behind the "My Dog Has Fleas" rhyme. Every chord shape you know still works, but each chord sounds a whole step higher. A C shape plays a D chord.
Is D tuning safe for my ukulele?
It suits soprano ukuleles well. On concert and tenor instruments the extra tension can be high with standard strings, so many players keep D tuning for sopranos. If a string feels very tight, go back to standard G C E A tuning.
